Open For New Recruits(And Helpers)

Mon Jun 25, 2007, 1:31 PM
A Club for those who have the passion to write, yet lack the skills to make their work shine like we know it can!

Shine! Shine, like the gem your work is!

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Mission: To combine the help of skilled Masters of English Writing and/poetry to help those struggling with grammar and spelling as Apprentices.

How is this club different?
It involves the cooperation of skilled tutors to help those who struggle in the areas of grammar and spelling to write better.

Design: It is for those who do have knowledge of writing and or do write poetry and stories, but need taught on the basics as a review/and or to level they never recieved. It would be best if the Masters of English have a backround in teaching.

How will this work?

It will work with the cooperation and commitment of the Masters who have had atleast 5years of skill in Literature and Poetry and know the English language as a first langauge.

What can I expect?
A test of where your skills are. Everyone will start on base level, a review for some, a great starting place for others.

Secondly, you can expect to get comments on your work by the tutors.

Thirdly, they will have a method to teaching you.

Lastly, as a community everyone will be able to have a safe place to show that their work is not perfect and can relax, knowing that we as a club do not try to insult you by your lack of skills.

We are not 'Grammar Nazis', nor do we promote this kind of writting culture.

Also, critiques and work should be noted in the positive. When given a critique it should come to several standards; one of which should never be that you have a bad story. Every story is good in the way its originally conceived. The 'kinks' are what hide's its true beauty.

I do not speak English. Can I join this club?
Yes, and no. We serve all equally in gender, race, sex... etc. However, if we cannot provide a Master of English that speaks your native tongue, then it will not happen.

This club involves the helping staff. If one cannnot find one that speaks the native English langauge, or is bilingual and understands how to help you, I'm afraid you are out of luck. We apologize for this, if it happens.

Will I know who will help me?
Drybonesreborn is administrator of this program. Whom ever will help you, will help you must tell me who they are helping. In this way, I can know who is helping and recieving help. Since this is not a classroom, any helper can help no more than 3 people at a time.

Why? It lessons their burdens, and allows them to teach them and keep score of progress underwraps.

What stories do you allow?

Since this is a club that helps, all are allowed. As for those that go against Da policy, we cannot allow. I will not be able to help a lot with grammar. It is a difficulty to me. I however can give comments on work. I will be more of a standby.

What do you, Drybonesreborn do, since you are not an Master of English?

Although my native tongue is American English, and have taken 2 years of Spanish, I have a problem with grammar, and cannot allow myself to make major corrections in these areas. This isn't to say that a Master of English who has helped a student cannot inform me that they want me to look over work again, for periods, or missed puntiations. I can do the basics, but I am terrible with semi colons and major English skills.

I will also settle disputes over 'harsh' or 'Grammar Nazi' like critiques.
What won't you do?
Everyone has their pet peeve, or something they can't do or see. I cannot read anything really sexual or profanity laced. This isn't say I will not read something about kissing, but I will not continue down further in that path. As to swearing, I can tolerate the usualy 'F' word, but nothing really more than that. I will not read profanity laced, or witchraft driven stories.

I have nothing against the person who writes it. I think they can make a story with that theme work, go for it. I just will not read them out of my own conscience.

**************************************

To join: Place a note to the club with the title "Master" Or "Apprentice", and describe the how you would be a good teacher, or what area you need help in as an student.

**************************

Rules as Masters of English:

1. Please be positive on the story. Be honest, but nice. If a story is very bad, realize that the grammar is hiding it's beauty. If it has holes in the plot say so, but make sure that the good points are mentioned.

2. Please do not insult the apprentice, the work should be judged, not him or her.

3. Please note me drybonesreborn of those you are helping.

4. Grammar Nazis need not apply

**************************************88

Rules for Apprentices
1. Please be patient with the learning process. If you need more help ask :)

2. Please inform both the Writers Apprentice account you need a tutor/and are being tutored by a Master of English listed. (I am being tutored by)... in note's header.

3. Please do no not insult the Masters of English either. If you have a problem come to me or the staff.

************************************

Additional info: I reserve the right to change the rules at any given time and to cancel this club.

Also, anyartwork will be appreciated related to this club.

Stories needed looked at will be posted as works as scraps. For those who's works have excelled, I and the staff will post them up in front.

:) Why scraps? Your work will be not seen openly by everyone for your comfort.

Oh, and sessions to improve your work will depend on your Master of English. :)

This club looks rad.
...but I shall resist the urge. ^-^;;
'coz I don't think I'd be super-welcome here. xPP

If y'all still need help in two years when I'm on the prose phase of my goal here on DA, I'll lend a hand. I'm not that good with poetry (free-verse all the way), but I don't have the time to analyze stories at the moment.

And in response to ~AriSky: seconded! ^_~

Interesting idea but I don't know that I'd have the time to spare.

Oh, The deliverance of blade and flame, your love
And greater is the blood

You’ll find it in the veil of night where solitude is born
In the emptiness of broken flesh, at the mercy of the thorns
